Storybrooke Challenge ft hiddleswan

↳ You have to trust me, Regina. I know best. Love is weakness, Regina. It feels real now. At the start, it always does. But it’s an illusion. It fades, and then you’re left with nothing. But power, true power, endures. And then you don’t have to rely on anyone to get what you want. I’ve saved you, my love - (1x18 - the stable boy)

I disagree about Rumpel vs Regina and who has more work to do. Rumpel knows he's bad. He admits it but he has his own code to live by. Regina thinks she's the victim 100% of the time. How can she fix anything when she never thinks she's in the wrong? Take 3x22. Obvious as hell that she still blames Snow and has zero self-awareness when she goes around lecturing others. Rumpel is as self-aware as Hook is. But for Rumpel he always has a bigger goal than doing right.

What? I don’t think you’re paying attention. Regina used to think she was the victim 100% of the time.

3x11: Regina tells everyone that Pan’s curse is her fault because Storybrooke shouldn’t exist—so she owns up and sacrifices her happiness for Henry’s.

3x13: Regina talks with Robin and tells him that she owns her mistakes.

3x21/22: (the episode you’re referencing, btw) She tells Robin that Daniel dying was her fault. She says that flat out. She lashes out at Emma later, with the Marian reveal, but it’s just a defensive action because she knows it’s her past catching up with her.

Rumple, on the other hand, does admit he’s bad, but still actively manipulates the characters around him as to not catch him being bad. He warns others of this behavior, and is clearly ashamed of it since he knows to hide it, but that doesn’t negate the action itself.

This is just a pattern of his, and it’s one that’s about to have a huge fallout. I’m not accusing him of not being self-aware—rather the opposite. It’s the fact that he’s self-aware and still does the things he knows he shouldn’t that is his problem. It’s where he still has to grow.

Regina, on the other hand, wasn’t self-aware; she became self-aware, and then actively began changing.

It’s not a criticism on Rumple, it’s just a fact that the character still has to grow in certain areas. Regina does too—she has to face her consequences just as much as Rumple does. It’s not a race to redemption; both are just on different paths towards it.

I’ve received a lot of letters from artists asking to check out their artwork and their blog, and I’ve noticed that a lot of them openly write unhealthy amounts of negative comments about their artwork, it was super depressing, honestly.  :(
Confidence plays a very very important role as an artist, it’s what helps us learn and grow without the constant feeling of doubt and jealousy!  You are a unique individual who must go down your own unique path, and as scary as it sounds, you can’t rely on others to hold your hand all the way through.  You are the only one who can get yourself to where you need to go, and beating up your artwork is not the way!  Trust yourself and your abilities to make a change, and you can do anything!!

Love your art, love yourself!
